Sussex County Sports Partnership Trustee Vacancies

The Sussex County Sports Partnership (the Trust) is seeking to build upon current expertise through the recruitment of up to 8 outstanding individuals to serve as trustees, with possible appointment to its Board of Trustees. Interest is especially welcome from the areas of finance, legal, facilities, public health, business, marketing and community safety.

The people

All the successful candidates will have:
  • Significant experience of leadership at either an executive or non-executive level;
  • An excellent understanding of the different operational contexts of the public, voluntary and private sectors
  • The skills and experience to influence decision making at Board level
  • A passion for the community aspects of sport and physical activity, particularly increasing participation
  • A commitment to promoting diversity and equality.

Background

The Sussex County Sports Partnership Trust is a company limited by guarantee and a registered charity. It is one of 49 County Sports Partnerships across England with the role of supporting increased participation in sport and physical activity.

The Trust aims to support delivery within the Sussex community by engaging with more sectors such as Health, Business, Transport, Environment, whilst ensuring continued sound financial and legal probity through links with legal/accounting professionals.
We also seek to attract further investment to provide more opportunities for people to participate; to maximise the potential of 2012 and in turn demonstrate sports benefits and outcomes.

The role

The Trust currently has a non-executive Board of twelve members led by the Chair, Dr. Sarah Gilroy. The Board is supported by 3 sub-groups with an authorised brief for Governance (Financial and Legal matters); Human Resources, and Marketing & Communications.
The Trustees have overall responsibility for the performance of the Trust Sport and concerns itself primarily with strategy, governance, human resource, and financial oversight of the Trust.
