This qualification is available to individuals who wish to run sessions (Individual/Group) for ante/post natal participants and those who are already running such sessions without a formal qualification.
Candidates will learn:
- The anatomical and phsyiological changes that occur to the body systems as a result of pregnancy
- How to plan an appropriate session
- How to deliver and evaluate an ante and post natal exercise practical session
- How to provide appropriate exercise advice
Structure
Candidates will complete the following elements:
- Principles of Ante/Post Natal Exercise
- Practical Ante/Post Natal Exercise
Total guided learning hours
45 hours in total
Prerequisites
Candidates must be in possession of a CYQ Level 3 Certificate in Advanced Fitness Instructing qualification, or other qualification recognised by the National Qualifications Framework (NQF).

Candidates holding non NQF certificates may be considered for this qualification. However, training providers must apply APA or APL as appropriate to ensure that the requirements of the prerequisites are met. All evidence of APA and APL must be available to the CYQ external verifier upon request.

Internally assessed via:
- Practical assessment including planning, teaching and evaluating
- Case study/progressive programme
Externally assessed via:
- Theory paper
