This qualification is available to individuals who wish to deliver chair-based exercise sessions to frailer older adults. It is also relevant for those already running such sessions without a formal qualification.
Candidates will learn:
- The main physiological changes that occur to the body systems as a result of the ageing process
- Screening tests that can be used to determine readiness to exercise for older people
- The referral routes available for older people unable to exercise
- How to deliver a safe and effective prescribed programme of chair-based exercises to the frailer older person

- Practical Chair-Based Exercise

Prerequisites
There are no formal prerequisites for this qualification, although it is expected that candidates will have experience of working with older people or have experience in the delivery of exercise programmes.
